1 Student Conduct & Responsibility Agreement

A. The Parent’s Role
Kingdom Kids Schoolhouse exists to support parents in the education they provide to their students. As such, we rely heavily on parents to prepare their students to approach the learning environment with respectful behavior. We also trust parents to take the primary role in enforcing discipline if necessary.

By registering, the parent agrees to:
Actively partner with their student to ensure they arrive on time.
Ensure the student is ready to be attentive in class.
Dress the student in modest, clean attire appropriate for the classroom.
Ensure the student is prepared in all other respects before arriving at co-op.

B. The Student’s Role
Students are expected to show respect, honesty, fairness, and self-control. They should use excellent listening skills and obey instructions from parents, teachers, and administrators.

Specific expectations include:
Prohibited Content:
Inappropriate images, writing, language, innuendos, and violence are prohibited. Students must avoid scandalizing their peers or younger students with “shock value” comments, humor, or media content that they may have been exposed to but is not age-appropriate.
Dating Relationships: For older students in dating relationships, public displays of affection are strictly prohibited.
Discernment:
Students should use wisdom and discernment in their behavior, consulting with their parents and/or teachers if they need guidance about what is or is not acceptable.

C. Acknowledgement
I understand that Kingdom Kids Schoolhouse is a supportive environment, but behavioral standards are enforced through parental partnership and student responsibility. I agree to hold my child accountable to these standards and to contact the Leadership Team immediately if serious behavioral issues arise that require administrative intervention.

[ ] I, the parent/guardian, have reviewed and agree to the Student Conduct & Responsibility guidelines above.
[ ] I confirm that I have discussed these expectations with my child.

Student Conduct – KKS Role

Our first line of defense is positive reinforcement. We praise what we want more of. We also understand that young men and women are emerging adults who need gentle correction and guidance:

• Normal misbehavior in class or on site will be corrected with loving reminders of good behavior, warnings, and after-class conversations with the student.

• Repeated problems or more serious misbehaviors will trigger a meeting with the Lead Teacher. Parents will be notified by phone call and/or email.

Student Conduct – Teacher’s Role

Different teachers have different expectations for students depending on their age/grade level, and these rules should be discussed as well. Serious or repeated offenses can lead to behavioral probation, after which it may be recommended to suspend or expel a student from the program.

Prohibited Student Conduct
Students may be subject to disciplinary actions, up to and including suspension from school, when they engage in conduct that is:
• Disorderly
• Insubordinate
• Disruptive
• Considered violent
• Or any form of bullying or cyberbullying/harassment/discrimination/hazing that is designed to or has the effect of interfering with one’s ability to be educated in a safe, non-hostile environment.
For more specific details about how we define these behaviors, please refer to Appendix A of this Handbook.

Reporting Violations of the Code of Conduct
All students are expected to promptly report violations of the code of conduct to a teacher or administrator. Anyone observing a student possessing a weapon, alcohol, or illegal substance at the co-op or at a co-op function must report this information immediately.

## Student Dress Code Policy & Agreement 👕👗

Student Name: _________________________________________________________

Grade/Class: ___________________________________________________________

### Our Philosophy
At Kingdom Kids Schoolhouse, we believe that appropriate attire helps create a focused, respectful, and safe learning environment. Our dress code emphasizes modesty, cleanliness, and safety. We ask parents to partner with us in preparing their students each day.

### General Guidelines
All students are expected to arrive at class in modest, clean, and age-appropriate attire. Clothing should not be distracting, offensive, or pose a safety risk during physical activities or hands-on learning.

### Specific Standards

✅ What is Appropriate:
Tops:
Shirts/blouses with sleeves (tank tops with wide straps are acceptable if worn under outer layers). No sheer or see-through materials without proper undershirts.
Bottoms: Pants, shorts, skirts, or dresses of appropriate length (no more than 1–2 inches above the knee). Jeans without excessive rips or holes.
Footwear:
Closed-toe shoes are required for certain activities (see below). Sneakers, flats, or boots are generally acceptable.
Accessories: Minimal jewelry; no items that could cause injury (e.g., long chains, large hoops).

What is Not Appropriate:
Revealing Clothing:
Low-cut necklines, crop tops, tube tops, spaghetti straps (without coverage), or clothing that exposes undergarments.
Offensive Imagery: Clothing with profanity, suggestive images, violent graphics, or logos promoting substances/alcohol.
Excessive Rips/Tears:
Clothing with large holes in the knees, chest, or back.
Headwear: Hats, hoods, or beanies are not permitted during instruction unless for medical or religious reasons (please inform teachers in advance).
Footwear:
Flip-flops, thong sandals, or open-toe shoes may not be allowed during science labs, art projects, or physical education due to safety concerns.

### Special Activity Notes
Art/Science Labs: Long pants and closed-toe shoes are highly recommended (or required) to protect against spills and stains.
Physical Education/Play:
Athletic wear is encouraged, but must still meet modesty standards (no extremely short shorts or tank tops).
Weather: Layers are encouraged. Please label all coats and hats.

### Parent Acknowledgement
I understand the Kingdom Kids Schoolhouse dress code policy. I agree to ensure my child’s attire meets these standards daily. If my child arrives inappropriately dressed, I will be contacted to provide a change of clothes or pick them up early if necessary.

Attendance
If a student missed school due to illness or family emergency, the staff need to be notified before the start of the school day. If a student needs to miss class for any pre-arranged reason, staff should be notified a week in advance to give adequate time for making lesson plan arrangements.

If a student misses school for any reason, they will be granted a deadline extension on their assignments equal to the amount of time missed. For example, if a student is absent for two in-person days, they will be given two in-person days from their first day back to make up any assigned work, as well as keeping up with current work.

Drop-off and Pick up
Kingdom Kids parents should walk their student(s) in sign them in before leaving. Each child must be signed out before being released. Students will not be released to anyone without proper identification or who is NOT on the pick-up form.

Lunch and Recess

We ask that each student bring a healthy lunch, and a refillable water bottle.

During recess students will be expected to remain within certain boundaries on the property. This is for the safety of the students and security reasons.

In case of inclement weather, recess and lunch will be held inside.

Health and Safety Policy
KKS maintains a formal policy to establish procedures which safeguard the health of children and adults participating in programs sponsored by the co-op, and applies to all students, teachers, and volunteers participating in onsite programs.

Guidelines

1) Medical and Other Emergencies

a. KKS will maintain a ANSI Class B First Aid Kit.
b. Parents will need to be CPR certified.
c. At least 2 volunteers will be in each class with students.
d. In case of an emergency, administration and volunteers will respond according to the situation.
e. Parents will be notified of any emergency as soon as it is safe to do
so.

2) Serious Allergies

a. When required for the safety of a student with a peanut allergy, the facilities in use can be maintained as a “Peanut Free” environment to minimize the risk of an allergy emergency. When this policy is in place, signage will be posted and the policy communicated to guests.
b. If needed, a parent may request that an Epinephrine Autoinjector (“Epi-Pen”) be maintained onsite in accordance with their child’s allergy emergency plan, and teachers and volunteers trained in its use.

3) Minor Accidents/Injuries

a. Teachers and volunteers who are certified will be permitted to administer first aid for minor accidents and injuries that occur during onsite programs (non-medication only).
b. Parents will be quickly notified of any first aid that has been administered so that they can determine any appropriate follow-up care.
c. Other than an “Epi-Pen” for allergy emergencies, medications will not be kept onsite nor provided to students except by the student’s parent. This includes over-the-counter (“OTC”) pain relievers.

  1. Illness

a. If a student or staff has an illness that is contagious, we ask that you please stay home.
b. If you have a fever, you must be fever free for 24 hours before returning.
c. If a student of staff becomes ill during co-op time, they will need to leave. We will contact parents.
d. If no fever is present a mask can be used.
e. MEDICATION WILL NOT BE GIVEN UNLESS IT IS THE PARENTS!
f. These policies are subject to change based on the evolving conditions and medical guidance.

Special Needs Students
Kingdom Kids Schoolhouse will not be “labeling” any student that attends. Kingdom Kids Schoolhouse is an inclusive schoolhouse that values diversity.
Every student learns differently, and we will do our very best to teach each child in the way that best fits him/her.

We will utilize positive reinforcement to encourage engagement and motivation.
We will provide clear and consistent expectations for all students.
We will maintain open communication with parents to address concerns collaboratively.

Grading Policies
In classical education, letter or number grades are deemphasized because we recognize that it is difficult to truly quantify the learning that is taking place. At the same time, there must be some sort of assessment of progress and of areas that need more work. Therefore, smaller daily assignments will receive either checks or fraction grades (i.e., +8/10), while larger assignments (drawings, writing assignments, etc.) will receive an OSNU grade and written feedback. If, for example, a student turns in a paragraph with many spelling and grammar mistakes, they will also redo the paragraph to help them practice those spelling words and grammar skills.

In order to ensure students are gaining necessary skills, reports will be sent home on week four, and the final grade will be sent out on week 8 or 9. Depending hone the class schedule.

Letter Grades:
O = Outstanding
S = Satisfactory
N = Needs improvement
U = Unsatisfactory

Virtues and Habits:
3 = Often Observed
2 = Sometimes Observed
1 = Rarely Observed

Virtues and Habits will be comprised of the School Virtues, and students will be assessed on their day-to-day interactions with teachers, peers, and volunteers. The goal in this assessment is to help students develop good habits, and to grow up to be winsome, humble followers of Christ. Virtue assessment will be completed by the lead teacher, while both the math teacher and lead teacher will contribute to the academic report.

While developing humility through asking others for help, students are expected to fully do their own work. Parents may assist and answer questions, as well as provide instruction as required, but students must use tenacity, patience, and hard work to complete their assignments. Cheating in any form will not be tolerated.

Work that is not completed by the start of the due day may result in the consequence of the student sitting out during recess or lunch to complete it, unless arranged prior to the morning of the due date by the parent and teacher. Any assignments that are not fully completed or do not meet standards may be redone during recess or lunch on the day that they would have been returned to students. If a student consistently needs to redo work or consistently fails to turn work in on time, we will arrange for them to receive extra tutoring or supervision.

Accepting challenges humbly and working through them are important components of a good education, and more important than grades, students should be able to look at the work they have done and honestly say they have given it their best effort. Assignment redos and tutoring are implemented both to ensure a clear understanding of the material and to help students develop patience and grit.

Open and timely communication is key to success in most endeavors. Please reach out to us with any questions or concerns you may have.

When these needs arise, please be considerate of all who are laboring with love at the Academy by addressing your concerns directly to those closest to the situation first — before seeking additional assistance. Specifically:

• Class or teacher-related concerns should be addressed to the teacher of that class directly. If not resolved, contact Melissa Trumbull
• Feedback regarding the Lead Teacher or questions about daily operations of the KKS should be addressed directly to the Lead Teacher. If not resolved, contact Melissa Trumbull.
• Feedback or questions about the general policies (such as those found in this Handbook), should be addressed to Melissa Trumbull If not resolved, contact the Vice President.

Respectfully, we ask that all school-related communications, particularly those relating to student attendance, grades, or classroom management should happen via email and phone call, or in person. Communications of this nature should not be sent via text message except in emergencies or for urgent, time-sensitive needs.

In-person meetings should be scheduled: that is, they should not happen casually after church services or in passing. This is to mitigate misunderstandings, to protect staff’s “off-hours,” and to ensure that time at church is used for worship and fellowship. Families are encouraged to spend quality time together on evenings and weekends as part of the culture of the school; staff should do the same with their own families.

For your convenience, the following page should be used as a Directory
regarding who to contact for various needs you may have during the year.

If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding the reasons behind any of the behavior policies or the way which KKS will respond to a child who needs redirection or correction, please bring it up at parent time during KKS.

  • If your child misbehaves, he/she will be given a warning. If that child continues after the warning, the child will be removed and taken to the “Self-Examination Chair” and will remain there until his/her parent thinks it is okay to go back to the class. If the child continues and the behavior has not been corrected, then the child will not be able to return to the next day activities. That child will have to “shadow” the parent.

  • KKS is a Christ-centered group to support homeschooling families, where you can know others as well as be known. As a healthy communication is essential to any community, KKS strives to be a place where open conversations and dialogues are encourages and supported. If concerns or conflicts arise, it is imperative that we address and resolve them graciously so that KKS continues to be a community where friendships grow, and each member feels valued and respected.
  • Communication within KKS is ENGLISH only
  • We recognize and appreciate each member’s autonomy and ability to establish and nurture the friendships which develop from being on KKS as each members sees fit.
  • Because KKS respects each members autonomy and the ability to navigate his/her own friendships and relationships. If a concern or personal conflict arise between members, it is the responsibility of those members to work together to work to find a resolution.
  • If there is a concern or conflict, each member is encouraged to be proactive and seek a resolution.

Sick Policy

  • If you are unable to participate in KKS due to illness, please call a member immediately.
  • If you had specific responsibilities that day for a class, please find someone to hand off your materials and teaching plans. If you are missing a field trip, please contact the coordinator of the trip. You may not be able to get a refund.
  • If one child is sick and you are staying home with them, if the other child is not sick and still can participate, please contact a member. They may be able to help you with your child, so he/she doesn’t miss a day. THAT PARENT WILL TAKE FULL RESPONISBILTY FOR THAT CHILD/CHILDREN

What we believe

The divine inspiration of the Bible as the Word of God, the revelation of His mind to man, and the all-sufficient guide for the Christian Life (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
The diety of the Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, sinless life on earth, His vicarious death, burial, resurrection, ascension to heaven (John 1; Luke 1:26-2:20; John chp. 19-20; Mark 16:19).
The total depravity of man through Adam’s fall in the garden of Eden and his absolute helplessness to please God apart from faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (Genesis 3; Romans 3; 5:12-19).
The love of God to the entire world, proven by the gift of His beloved Son to be the Saviour of mankind (John 3:16).
The finished work of Christ on the cross, through which complete and eternal atonement for sin has been effected (Hebrews 9:26). To all who trust in His work of redemption – the present assurance of salvation from eternal judgment, forgiveness of all their sins, enjoyment of eternal life now, and security for all eternity in the glory (Ephesians 2:8-9; John 10:28; 1 John 5:11-13).
The eternal punishment of every person who refuses to accept Christ as their Saviour (John 5:28-29; Hebrews 2:3; Revelation 20:11-17).
The rapture of the Church at the Lord’s coming to the air (1 Corinthians 15:51-57). The revelation of Christ in glory at His coming to the earth (2 Thessalonians 1:6-10).
The resurrection of all believers at the coming of the Lord and the review and reward of their lives and works (Romans 14:10; 1 Corinthians 3:12).
